Each week we will be watching a 15-minute Preview Video from the Film Series being produced by Dr Peter Walker to accompany his book In the Steps of Jesus (LionHudson, 2006).
Each episode has been filmed on location in the Holy Land. Together they will give us all an opportunity…
- to imagine Jesus’ teaching and ministry in its original setting
- to sense the barrenness of the desert or the excitement of coming up over the crest of the Mount of Olives
- to discover likely sites for Jesus’ Last Supper, and for his trials before Caiaphas and Pilate
- and to ponder the historical reality of his death and resurrection.
We will go on a journey from the Judean Desert via Jericho, Bethany and the Mount of Olives, to the streets of Jerusalem.
Each episode, though filmed recently on location in each place, focuses as much as possible on the first-century world, giving you accurate and up-to-date scholarly information about how Jesus’ teaching and ministry would have been understood in his own day.
